Club Heritage
The Rome Radio Club, Inc. has a long standing history in amateur radio and community service, as well as a strong bond to the community. Originally formed as the Fort Stanwix Amateur Radio Club, the Rome Radio Club was formed in 1955 when the club officially filed it's amended certificate of incorporation with the State of New York as a not for profit organization. Today, the club remains committed to upholding that same level of public service to all. The club has been a member of the ARRL since 1934.
ARRL Charter of Affiliation
The Rome Radio Club, Inc. has been affiliated with the ARRL since 1934, although back then, it was known as the Fort Stanwix Amateur Radio Club. These and many more documents like it are being located in hopes of preserving the Club's rich history in the area to show each member. We feel that while our primary goal is to move the Club forward and to evolve with it's members, it is also important to know where the Club has been and what it has done over the years. If you have any photos or documents relating to the activities or history of the Rome Radio Club, please bring them to a meeting or mail them to us. We also take digitally scanned copies of such documents and they can be emailed to web@romeradioclub.com.
2011 HAMFEST
The Rome Radio Club, Inc. held it's 58th annual HAMFEST at the Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department at 100 Station Road in Westmoreland, New York on Saturday, August 13th, 2011. Turn out for this event was fantastic. Among the most popular parts of the show were our guest vendors, including the notorious "Wire Man", the wonderful custom hat vendor and others. Club members and guests created many demos including APRS, EchoLink, and new this year, the annual fox hunt.
We thank everyone for their cooperation and for attending and making the Rome Radio Club's 58th annual HAMFEST extra special. We look forward to seeing you all next year as we continue to expand our horizons!

Repeater Site Work
Repeater site work has commenced over the last month. This is just one part of modernizing the club to better serve the community. Many members were in attendance, working together to do repair work and basic maintenance that had previously fell by the wayside. Unsafe structures were removed to create a more functional space. Although the club is not yet finished with the construction work, the space is already in much better condition and more appealing to the eye. Check out some of the photos below that were taken during one of the work days at the repeater site!
Field Day 2011
Members and guests were in attendance for the ARRL's Field Day 2011. The Rome Radio Club held Field Day at the historic Erie Canal Village located on Rome New London Road in the City of Rome, New York. Members and guests enjoyed making contacts using the club's callsign, W2OFQ. Below are some of the photos that were taken during the event. Many thanks to the Erie Canal Village for allowing us to set up on their field during the off-season.
Site Work Continues...
Work continues at the site of the 88 repeater. The little parcel in the Town of Lee has been booming with club members as they work tirelessly to get everything in good working order before the on-set of another Central New York winter. Below is some of the photos of our crew working, and some of our crew snapped some beautiful photos of some nice views, too!
